Cindy Hwang

Nutritionist

Our Nutritionist, Cindy, is originally from East Northport, NY.  Her passion for nutrition started with a personal commitment to eating healthy foods and physical fitness. The positive physiological effects she experienced through her own lifestyle changes inspired her to empower others to do the same. In 2006, Cindy enrolled at The Institute of Integrative Nutrition (IIN) and graduated as a Certified Health Counselor in 2007. During her time at IIN, she learned about various diets from experts in the field, as well as effective health counseling techniques. Her experience at IIN encouraged her to further her education and learn more about the science behind nutrition. Cindy enrolled in The Didactic Program in Dietetics at Queens College in 2008 and earned her second bachelors degree in Dietetics. In 2009, she became a member of the Phi Upsilon Omicron (Phi U), a national honor society in family and consumer sciences. She is currently working towards her Masters in Nutrition and Exercise Science at Queens College.   In addition to her studies, Cindy developed and teaches a program called "Senior Strength" for The Korean Community Services of Metropolitan NY (KCS)’s senior centers. KCS is a non-profit organization that serves the immigrant and aging community of New York City. Senior Strength teaches cardiovascular and strengthening exercises tailored to the specific needs of older adults and is designed to combat the natural health decline associated with aging and chronic diseases. Cindy also did consulting work for V-Spot, a vegan restaurant and retail business located in Park Slopes Brooklyn. She performed nutrient analyses on V-Spot’s retail menu items, assisted with marketing, and contributed to product enhancement and development. In her spare time, Cindy enjoys cooking, dining out, and staying active. She also teaches Sunday School to eighth graders at The Korean Church of Queens in Jackson Heights, NY.
