Joseph W.

M.F.A., FPTI, NASM-CPT

A native of small-town Alabama, Joseph grew up an avid high school athlete, thriving in an environment in which physical fitness, outdoor play, improvisation, and imagination were encouraged. He left Alabama to attend undergrad at Vanderbilt University and then pursued his master’s degree at the Rhode Island School of Design. Then in 2009, he moved to his current home of New York City.

His passion for strength training and nutrition has been life-long but was especially encouraged during his recuperation from a knee injury in 2014. His recovery primed him with a great deal of empathy and patience for those struggling to regain balance inside their own bodies.

Joseph is an expert guide in building physiques to match the New York City-sized ambitions; but he is also, first and foremost, a listener. As a top-of-class graduate of FOCUS’s 600-hour Personal Training Master Course, his growing practice focuses on charting highly individualized, goal-specific paths towards clients’ optimal health and longevity.
