Growing up in Rye, New York, competitive sports were a part of Torie’s life from a young age. She participated in several different sports, until deciding to hone her skills in field hockey, and eventually taking it to the Division I level at Brown University. As a 4 year collegiate athlete, Torie began to understand and appreciate the importance of strength and conditioning training both on and off the field.


Upon graduating from Brown, Torie returned to New York to work in marketing. While leading a busy life in New York City, time in the gym remained a constant in her schedule. Fitness and health continued to be an important and central pillar of her life even after her sports career ended. Seeking a challenge after collegiate athletics, Torie set new goals for herself. She completed back to back New York City marathons, and found a new passion for running. During this time she also worked with personal trainers, and found herself constantly wanting to learn more about the fitness industry.


Torie decided she needed to make a change. At this point she discovered Focus Personal Training Institute. She decided to turn her love of fitness into a full time career. She enrolled in FPTI’s 700 hour Master Course, where she learned how to apply the concepts of kinesiology, physiology, biomechanics and injury prevention to a wide variety of client needs. Torie also earned an internship with Focus Personal Training, where she was given the opportunity to train one-on-one and in small group settings, all while receiving guidance and feedback from Focus‘s expert training staff.


Torie understands and appreciates the value of continued education and looks forward to fine-tuning her skills at Focus.
